about

This is a song from an album I have been working on for a while called Underground River. I recently asked Lexie Jennings from Pet Shimmers to sing on it and the results sounded nice so I thought I'd release it as a single on Bandcamp Friday.

As well as featuring Lexie, this song contains a recording I made of a choir singing in the Polish Church on Cheltenham Road, Bristol.

I will donate 50% of sales today to the Red Cross Beirut emergency appeal.

lyrics

Like the sudden weight of mercury,
which makes time run backwards
or clouds disappear.

Under the weight of memory,
silver birches ghostly,
we’d argue, laugh and argue again.

Every dream has an obstacle,
obstacles are unwanted and needed.

I wasn’t waiting for you here
in the streetlight so clear –
it takes a lot to come back home.

Every dream is an obstacle,
obstacles are unwanted and needed.

What is this weight that holds me down?
What summer have you broken from?

It hurts my mind!
